The Community Tables: a critique of certainty, 2017

Exhibited at UWAG in Waterloo, ON; Art Mur in Montreal, QC

The Community Tables: a critique of certainty is an interactive art project originally exhibited at the University of Waterloo Art Gallery in 2017. There are 3 tables that each hold a text puzzle made from laser-etched maple wood. The final statement of each puzzle depends on how it is solved by the viewer because pieces within a puzzle are interchangeable.

The tables are constructed using industrial cardboard that we digitally rendered and "printed" on a CNC cutter. Like the puzzles, the tables can take on different configurations for future uses. A pin board displays additional text work that was created during the development of the exhibition.
